Erkhii Mergen 3D

The Mongolian legend of Erkhii Mergen and the seven suns, through your own eyes: stand on the steppe, draw your bow and shoot down the seven suns circling the sky, one by one. If the swallow gets in the way, ride after it. Four different endings, depending on how you shoot.

About this game

The tale of Erkhii Mergen is one of the best-known Mongolian legends. Long ago, seven suns rose in the sky; the land dried up, rivers vanished and people and animals suffered in the heat. Erkhii Mergen, a master archer, swore: "I will shoot down the seven suns with seven arrows. If I fail, I will cut off my thumb, never drink water or eat dry grass, and live in a dark hole."

He shot down six suns, but as he aimed at the seventh a swallow flew across his path and his arrow cut its tail. That is why, people say, the swallow has a forked tail to this day. Erkhii Mergen rode after the swallow but could not catch it; in his anger he cut off his horse's front legs, and the horse became the jerboa. Keeping his vow, he became the marmot, and marmots still come out of their burrows at dawn and dusk to watch the sun, waiting for a chance to shoot the seventh.

In this game you are Erkhii Mergen. Stand on the steppe, draw your bow in first person and shoot at the suns circling the sky, each with a face that taunts you while the swallow waits to spoil your shot. Whether the story ends the way the legend tells it, or another way, depends only on how you shoot.

Tips

• Arrows drop under gravity. For far suns, draw the bow all the way and aim a little high and a little ahead of where the sun is moving.
• One arrow can pierce two suns. Wait until two of them line up, then shoot.
• The swallow shows up after a few suns fall and guards the last one. It can only fly so fast, so a fast, fully drawn arrow can beat it.
• In the horseback chase, one hit on the swallow before sunset is enough.
• Shoot differently on each run to find all four endings.
